Good Shepherd Catholic Church
10th May 2020
Dear Parishioners and Friends of Good Shepherd Parish,
I hope that you and your families are safe and healthy in this present Corona Virus Crisis.
Since March 13 we have been unable to gather at Good Shepherd for our regular Masses and activities. We initially hoped that we would be able to celebrate Holy Week and Easter together but instead we celebrated virtually instead. Our Pastor, Fr Manus Bradley has continued to bring us the Sunday celebration of Mass via Facebook Live which will continue until we receive permission and direction from Bishop Claude about reopening our parish church. As the Book of Ecclesiastes says, “There is a season for everything, a time for every occupation under heaven”.
Since the shut-down the parish has not received the regular donations from the parishioners upon which we depend. Some parishioners have sent in their contributions but now we are appealing to everyone for their financial support. We realize that many are experiencing financial worries in this uncertain period and we know that you will support this appeal as best you are able.
The Fabrique has managed to avail of the various Federal and Provincial government wage subsidy programs for priests and Pastoral Agents, and some staff have been furloughed to limit the financial strain on the limited parish resources. These steps have reduced our outgoings but as you can imagine there are ongoing parish expenses such as building insurance, utilities and ongoing maintenance that are a constant expense and cannot be delayed or defrayed.
I am appealing to your generosity to support the parish to the extent that you are able to at this difficult time. The Fabrique suggests that you mail your contribution via cheque made out to Good Shepherd Parish, to our parish address, 7900 Naples, Brossard, J4Y 1Z9. The mailbox is checked regularly and all contributions however large or small will be acknowledged.
You and your loved ones are in our prayers and your intentions are included in each Mass, through Faith our fears are relieved, and peace is restored in our hearts.
